About The Proposed Community

EPA CAN DO and MidPen Housing are pleased to present a joint proposal with the City of East Palo Alto to build a new affordable housing community at 965 Weeks Street. In a collaborative effort to address the substantial need for affordable homes for individuals and families in EPA, EPA CAN DO, MidPen, and the City propose to build a housing community that recognizes the values of the City and the neighborhood. To achieve the City’s vision, MidPen is utilizing its partnership with EPA CAN DO to provide an authentic and inclusive community engagement approach that honors the existing community fabric.

In early 2018, the City issued a Request for Proposals, which invited non-profit affordable housing organizations to submit proposals to develop affordable housing on the vacant, city-owned property .EPA CAN DO and MidPen were one of the groups that submitted a proposal and was selected by the City Council to further evaluate a plan to develop affordable housing at 965 Weeks. EPA CAN DO and MidPen is currently in the early planning stages and undergoing the design and entitlements process. In mid-2019, the City, EPA CAN DO, and MidPen will be entering into an Exclusive Negotiation Agreement.
